Turning Information into Affirmation

Words are amazing creatures, containing so much meaning in such a little space. Today I bring together two words, information and affirmation, to see how the two relate.

New Information

You are a gatherer in so many ways. You sow and harvest, reaping the benefits of your labor. You gather tidbits of insight from watching those around you. Let’s not forget the years you spend in school, training to be masters of learning. What you learn from books is not the only kind if learning. You have the soul-presence side, collecting your life experiences to gain better understanding for your self expression.

Knowing isn’t everything. You’ve proven that you are capable of learning. You can acquire a skill and work a pattern like a champ. How much of what you do throughout the day is typical, done with little attention?

Know who you are.
See the current situation from many perspectives.
Know what lies behind your reaction.

Those all play a part in choosing the right course of action.

The patterns you rehearsed in your younger life were appropriate for that time, but does it serve you now?  You must have a strong conscious awareness if you want to make choices that serve you in the present moment.

Affirmations – Taking Information to a New Level

What exactly is an affirmation? It’s an acknowledgement, a confirmation. Affirmation is a legal term as well, meaning that when we make an affirmation we are stating that what we say is true.

I see affirmations as a gateway between a belief and an acceptance of that belief. You can use an affirmation to bring more conscious consideration to your words, thoughts and actions.

Dancer Martha Graham stated: “We look at the dance to impart the sensation of living in an affirmation of life, to energize the spectator into keener awareness of the vigor, the mystery, the humor, the variety, and the wonder of life. This is the function of the American dance.”

Life is it’s own dance, and you can choose how strong your experience. It is one thing to know, it is another to affirm what you believe in.
