Be A Blessing To Someone Today
Ready for an energy boost today? When talking about your energy level, one of the easiest indirect energy boosts can be found in giving. Be a blessing to someone today, you’d be surprised how it can change your energy for the better!
Not too many people focus on the energy they project into this world, we’re too busy living. But taking a few minutes to give thought to your energy can open your world up to some amazing exchanges.
The downside of giving
Let’s face it, there may be times when you’re feeling in need of a little TLC. Have you ever done something nice for someone just because you want them to be nice to you? This is certainly a valid practice, especially in a workplace. Treat others the way you would like to be treated. Understand, though, that the other person might not participate. Let it be, give for the giving.
Everything must be kept in balance. You should not be the martyr, the one who’s always giving and never receiving. If you feel that’s your life then it’s advised that you dig a little deeper and change that pattern. Maybe you’re not letting others give to you, or you’re not seeing and acknowledging the blessings that are coming your way. Find some help, not just to change that old pattern, but to also find the spark in you that’s been hidden behind the barrier.
How to be a blessing
Being a blessing to someone doesn’t have to be a major endeavor. Here are a few examples of being a blessing:
- Hold the door open for someone
- Wave to your neighbor
- Let that car merge in ahead of you
- Say good morning to a coworker
- Give someone a genuine compliment
- Say thank you
These are all pretty easy things you can do to be a blessing in someone’s life, especially when its unexpected. You never know when you’re going to make a huge difference for someone. It’s amazing that one little act of kindness can be the lifeline that pulls someone from a world of hurt. I’d call that a miracle, wouldn’t you? If you have a “be a blessing to someone today” story to share, please do!
Self love tips: Count your blessings
It’s okay to think about your acts of kindness without making it an ego thing, or a competition. As an example, yesterday I attended a small community expo. The atmosphere was great for practicing a little giving. In one of the classes there was a flood of people coming in late, and few chairs set up. I gave my chair to a late arriver, and quietly walked over to grab another from the stack. This kept the distraction level down, a courtesy for the instructor. The woman who accepted my chair smiled with gratitude, her energy lifted, and lightened. What did this do for me? The same. My energy was brighter and lighter! Did it take much effort? Was it worth it? That day was filled with little “gives”. It also included many times when someone offered to be a blessing to me, too!
Why count your blessings?
Repetition create patterns. Make those patterns conscious, at least in the beginning, and figuratively count your blessings. As you reflect on those times you take the time to be a blessing, notice how your energy feels. Do you feel lighter? Are you smiling, at least energetically?
Let those times when you choose to be a blessing be your morning “pick me up”, your afternoon “break”, and your evening finale’. As you practice the art of being a blessing, that energy will reflect in your mood, connectivity, and attitude.
Be a blessing to someone, and do it today.
